Comprehensive Wellness Blood Work
You've heard all the buzzwords by now: "gluten sensitivity", "hormone imbalance", "chronic inflammation"...but how do you know if you actually have any of these things? The answer lies within your blood. Wellness blood work tests over 200 markers to give you a "peak under the hood" and see what specific dietary/supplementation/lifestyle changes you might need to make to improve your overall health and well being. These tests can take a look at pre-existing conditions, as well as tell you what you may be at risk for in the future if not addressed appropriately. Blood work is performed by a certified phlebotomist in-house at your convenience, and the testing IS covered by all major insurance companies. When the results come back, Dr. Rackham will spend an hour or more with you discussing what the results mean, including the causative factors for your health concerns. You will walk away with knowledge of your body and confidence in a treatment plan designed specifically for you. Blood testing is included for women in our Mothers Matter program.
Breast Milk Analysis (part of our Mothers Matter program)
Many new, exclusively breastfeeding mothers are overwhelmed by the thought of whether or not they are making the best breast milk they can for their baby. We take the guess work and stress away for mothers with breast milk analysis, which tests for proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, and more. Mothers in this program enjoy the comfort of knowing they are healthy and that the nutrition they are giving their babies is of the highest level.
Chiropractic is the practice of assessing and diagnosing conditions related to the spine and extremities which may disrupt and alter nervous system outputs. Chiropractors are leading experts at assessing motion of joints in the spinal column and extremities. Correction of abnormalities in movement or alignment is done by joint manipulation-called "adjustments"-to enhance function in these areas.
Fascial Distortion Model
Fascial Distortion Model (FDM) is one in which virtually all soft tissue injuries, or musculoskeletal complaints, are viewed through 1 or more of the 6 different types of alterations to the body's connective tissues. The target tissue in this protocol is the fascia. Fascia is the connective tissue that surrounds the muscles and acts as an elastic web of communication, dispersing forces throughout the human body. Alterations in the structure or efficiency of this communication has consequences, usually related to an increase in work from the muscles themselves, which leads to fatigue and eventual injury and pain.
FDM has no protocols to memorize, yet it contains a detailed physical assessment, which leads to a specific diagnosis and provides objective outcomes.
The patient's verbal and physical descriptions, coupled with the mechanism of injury and relevant orthopedic tests will lead the practitioner to the proper form of soft tissue treatment. For this reason, no other soft tissue approach can reproduce the outcomes repetitively across the board as well as we can!
The treatment is the first step in restoring health to the musculoskeletal system, but in order to maintain proper motor control the human body must receive repetitive reinforcement. Individualized rehabilitation exercises are given to the patient to increase mobility, stability, and ultimately restore strength to these structures and prevent injuries from occurring in the future. Treatment without rehabilitation is simply not enough to keep the body healthy; this is where the patient is encouraged to take active control in their progress. By performing the appropriate exercise the patient is cementing the signal provided by the treatment to the nervous system, similar to studying flashcards after a professor has given a lecture. Rehabilitation is arguably the most important factor in the speed of recovery and prolonged health of the musculoskeletal system.
